Dog IQ Test

My dogs are clever, it is clear to see.

But for some reason I felt it necessary to pit them against each other to find out once and for all who is the smartest.

So I googled 'Dog IQ test' and made them take the first one that came up, this one. It was very, very, very entertaining. If you have a dog and a free half hour, do it. 

I remembered reading this comic a little while ago at Hyperbole and a Half and literally loling. Have a look before doing the test.

It was also interesting to see how each dog responded to the tasks differently. There were six challenges  most with a treat reward. Here is their final score lowdown.

As you can see they didn't do too badly. Small (real life alias Alma) did very well in getting out from under a towel and getting the treat out from under the towel. The funniest was when we had to stare at them, then smile and see what they did. This resulted in manic gurning and the dogs looking tres confused. And I couldn't stop giggling (this was test 3).

They both scored top points at test six- we had to call random words at them ('refrigerator!' 'movie!') then call their name. They both ignored the fake words and came to their names. Proudness!

Hairy failed immensely at the 'get the treat from under the sofa' test, poor old boy. And when the towel went over his head he just sat very still until we felt sorry for him and took the towel off.

According to this (obviously very scientific) website, both dogs are classified as 'smart'. Small was only three points off being a genius, apparently.

My brother did the test on Ruby, and she got 20.

She did very well for a dog that jumps at her own farts.
